Second Presbyterian Church is a Chicago architectural gem dating to 1874. Architect James Renwick designed the Gothic Revival exterior and Howard Van Doren Shaw and Frederic Clay Bartlett redesigned the interior in the Arts and Crafts style in 1901. Stunning memorial windows made by William Morris & Company, Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company, Tiffany Studios, McCully & Miles, and Louis J. Millet enhance the Church's interior. Original Bartlett murals, light fixtures and 175 angels grace the space. In 2013, Second Presbyterian Church was designated a National Historic Landmark in recognition of its Arts and Crafts interior. This designation is reserved for buildings and sites that are determined by the Secretary of the Interior to possess national significance in American culture and history.

Architectural Tours: Friends of Historic Second Church offers weekly tours during the market of this architectural treasure to preserve, restore, and educate the public.

Lunch bag Program: Did you know that the Second Presbyterian Church Board of Deacons’ Lunchbag Program has been serving our hungry neighbors?  The church hosts up to 300 guests each week!  Along with a meal, the Deacons offer a warm welcome, a place to sit and visit, articles of clothing and other useful items.

Second Time Around Resale Shop:  Barbara’s Basement is located in the basement of the church! Open during market hours only. Who knows what treasures you will find!

We need your donations: If you would like to donate items such as a care package, clothes, food, personal hygiene products, or gently used housewares and items for the resale shop, please visit the church during market hours on Thursday nights or during church hours: 9:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
